Screenings of “Rasti” and “Il padiglione sull’acqua” and talks with the directors!

On Friday, 4 October, from 4:30 p.m., the short film “Rasti” by Paolo Bonfadini and Davide Morando and the docufilm “Il padiglione sull’acqua” by Stefano Croci and Silvia Siberini will be shown at Fondazione Riccardo Catella, followed by Q&A time with the directors.

“Il Padiglione sull’acqua” (length 77 minutes) is an aesthetic and poetic journey into the imagination of the Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa and his passion for Japanese culture.
Japan represented an inspirational universe for the architect, as well as the place where
he died in 1978 at the height of his career as he was mysteriously travelling the routes of the
wandering poet Matsuo Bashō.
The narration unfolds along the strands of a question through the impressions suggested by the Japanese philosopher Ryosuke Ōhashi,
the question on the sense of beauty. The possibility of
this reflection here unites Scarpa’s works and traditional Japanese aesthetics.

The collaboration between Kartell and OffiCine-IED brought to life “Rasti” under the artistic supervision of Silvio Soldini and the direction of Paolo Bonfadini and Davide Morando. It explores the theme of light as a form of language through the evocative power of the light of Kartell’s lamps that become the story’s co-stars. “Rasti” (length 17 minutes) deals with a delicate moment of change: Anna is growing up and is no longer a little girl. Her father (Lino Guanciale), with the loving complicity of his companion (Eleonora Giovanardi), tries to find a way to communicate with her. The fairy tale is narrated by the voice of Adriano Giannini. It transmits a phantasmagoria of lights and shadows, a Morse code of alternating sweet illusions and nostalgic memories of a parent suspended between his desire to preserve the wonder of childhood and the fear of getting lost in a more intermittent contact.
