BAM Wellness: MudraMeditation with Mudras
Mudras work on three levels – physical, mental and spiritual – to realign oneself on one or all three levels.
There are Mudras for protecting yourself from heavy and negative energies, to enter into meditation, to ease ailments such as a headache or mild allergies. They are often called Hand Yoga. What we can achieve from this practice is sealing the body’s energy inside the body and directing its flow into a particular area.
According to Oriental culture, we find many centres of energy in our hands. Each finger represents a point of connection with an Element, and by positioning the fingers in a certain way we are able to control the amount of elemental energy flowing within us, attaining the qualities associated with the Element we are invoking. We want to consider each area of the hand an area reflecting a part associated with the body and the brain. So, the hands become like a mirror of our body and mind.
In this practice, we will place focus and attention on this aspect of Yoga, and we will integrate the Mudras in the Vinyasa Krama Flow Yoga sequence.
