BAM Workshop Adults: Amidst the TARANTelle a foray dancing to the rhythms of the south
Traditional dances – the tarantella: old and new generations, led by the ancestral rhythm of the tambourine that incites and generates an extraordinary purifying energy, they will dance establishing connections between the tarantellas of Southern Italy from a stylistic, art of dancing, rhythmic and musical perspective.
Also to be offered is a basic choreography activity to prepare a group song that may be performed during the concert of the Orchestra Popolare Italiana!
The scheduled activity is suitable for everyone with no former skills required, and for all ages. It is recommended to wear a loose-fitting dress or trousers, comfortable low-heel shoes that don’t make the feet slip and slide, or even better is barefoot. If you have them, bring castanets.

FRANCESCA TRENTA: dancer, singer and ethno-choreographer, she is director of the “Compagnia di Ballo!” of Rome’s Parco della Musica, where she coordinates the dance projects and workshops for the production of the folk dance performances “ BALLO!” and “LA TARANTELLA DEL CARNEVALE”, with the artistic direction of the master Ambrogio Sparagna with whom she works together actively in different productions. Teacher of the educational insert “Lezione di tarantella” and the article “Insegnare la danza tradizionale” Book + DVD special edition, “Tempo al Tempo. Tarante, carnevali e canti nell’Italia di ieri e di oggi”, a film by Ambrogio Sparagna, produced by Istituto Luce Cinecittà with Auditorium Parco della Musica of Rome 2020. He has had a fervent artistic and teaching career, and has organised and designed residences and shows for cultural and training organisations in Italy and abroad. He teaches at the IALS dance, music and performance professional centre in Rome. President of A.C. The magic flute and “I Passi della Tradizione” with which he also works in collaboration with Finisterre productions.
STEFANO CAMPAGNA: professional with experience in different artistic fields, he is the soloist performer of Compagnia di Ballo! Of Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. He collaborates on different productions directed by the master Ambrogio Sparagna as interpretative reference of men’s folk dancing. He has been the soloist dancer of the “Notte della Taranta” dance company for several years. He holds workshops and courses to preserve and popularise the ritual dancing of Southern Italy.
