There is a new hotel at BAM!
Participate in the new contest to create the first two BAM Bugs Hotels! Propose your home for pollinating insects and discover everything new arriving at Biblioteca degli Alberi.
We have joined forces with Gardenia magazine, BAM’s Media Partner, for a contest open to just everyone: students, universities, designers, companies, craftspeople, professionals and anyone who wants to get involved.
The goal of the contest is to single out the best structure for building two homes for pollinating insects – Bugs Hotels – which will be installed inside the area that BAM will dedicate to a collection of roses with nectariferous plants and shrubs, arriving in 2024.
Scientific Committee
BAM has invited a Scientific Committee that will select the winning work, made up of (in alphabetical order):
Gianumberto Accinelli (Entomologist); Beatrice Barni (Research and Hybridization Manager, Rose Barni); Riccardo Blumer (Architect and Designer); Daniele Cavadini (Photographer specialised in Nature, Sciences, Gardening); Francesca Colombo (General Cultural Director of BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano, Fondazione Riccardo Catella); Gustavo Gandini (University of Milan, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences); Franco Giorgetta (Landscape Architect); Elena Grandi (Councillor for the Environment and Parks, Municipality of Milan); Martin Kater (Director of Brera Botanical Garden); Domenico Piraina (Director of Museum of Natural History of Milan); Emanuela Rosa-Clot (Editor ofi Bell’Italia, Bell’Europa, In Viaggio, Gardenia); Kelly Russell Catella (General Director of Fondazione Riccardo Catella).
Schedule
- 25 April 2023: contest closing. Send the project and all documents to info@bam.milano.it;
- 12 May 2023: presentation of the finalist projects at the Mostra Mercato Orticola di Lombardia (Orticola Flower Show);
- 31 May 2023: announcement of the winner;
- Fall 2023: installation of Bugs Hotels
